Spurred by a projected 12 percent increase in jobs by 2022, the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce Services identified a list of in-demand “Hot Jobs.” The estimated 228,800 new jobs are expected to produce opportunities in a number of industries and they also yield promising outlook for students with business degrees. Out of the 16 mentioned jobs, the list includes the following business-related professions:
- Accountants and Auditors
- General and Operations Managers
- Management Analysts
- Market Research Analysts
- Marketing Specialists
The three criteria that help land these occupations on the “Hot Jobs” list are a projected growth rate of at least 12 percent over a ten-year period, an increase of at least 1,000 jobs over the same period, and a current average salary matching the 2013 South Carolina average.
Out of the 16 mentioned occupations, the highest average salary was for the general and operations managers who are expected to make a yearly $99,070.
In addition to employment projections, other economic indicators such as South Carolina Leading Index (SCLI) are showing positive gains. In August, SCLI jumped 0.9 points to 101.54 according to the South Carolina Economic Outlook. An SCLI value greater than 100 forecasts state’s improving economy in the following six months.
